When executed properly, a master bathroom has potential to be the most lived-in room in the house. Post-work glass of vino in the soaking tub? Don’t mind if we do. From tile selection and vanity arrangement to some seriously outrageous shower situations, let our favorite ensuite bath remodels inspire your own. We foresee a quiet escape and an hour (or five) of well-deserved alone time in your future. Float on and soak it up.

Surrounded by natural travertine tiles and built-in shelving, this smart shower-tub arrangement is conducive to a busy household. A classic double vanity adds a bonus and maximizes efficiency in the serene Brighton Heights space.
The Natural Beauty
To give this luscious lavatory a down-to-earth feel, we sprung for an au naturel slate tile surround and backsplash. The Brighton Heights bath’s floating double vanities feature spacious vessel sinks and ample storage space, while the shower’s rainhead boasts eight (count ’em) separate jets that control everything from temperature to water pressure. Mother Nature, may I?
You’re not seeing double. We just got ambitious with this North Side bath’s twin vessel sinks, mirrors, and matching shower heads with a multitude of temperature and water pressure settings for optimal customization. The room’s travertine floor tiles are offset by our favorite feature: an extravagant black marble fireplace that we left in 100 percent original condition. Baby wants, baby gets.
From its double floating vanities to the subway tiles’ navy accents, this savvy Lawrenceville space means business. Complemented by an off-white marble floor, the room’s opposing black cabinets, mirror trim, and shower head unit exemplify maximum efficiency and professionalism.
Dark and stormy with an upbeat, creative flair, this East Liberty home’s master bath packs a unique punch. Filled to the brim with natural slate tile, the spacious shower and its custom glass block window provide the ultimate balance of freedom and privacy. The fireplace, though nonfunctional, adds a fictitious spark with its original brick and remodeled mantle.
Clean lines, bold materials, and a supremely designed layout give character to this straight-laced space. Complete with a freestanding soaking tub and a fully enclosed glass shower, the ensuite bath in this Mt. Lebanon home is equal parts flawless and functional. For a classic touch, we incorporated double floating vanities and ceramic tile around the shower and bath area—but it’s the sliding barn door that really ups the ante here.
