When executed properly, a master bathroom has potential to be the most lived-in room in the house. Post-work vino in the soaking tub? Don’t mind if we do. From tile selection and vanity arrangement to some outrageous shower situations, let our favorite en-suite bath remodels inspire your own. We foresee a quiet retreat and several hours of much-needed alone time in your future. Float on and soak it up.
1 / THE MULTITASKER
Surrounded by natural travertine tiles and built-in shelving, this smart shower-tub arrangement is conducive to a busy household. A classic double vanity maximizes efficiency in the serene space.
2 / THE NATURAL BEAUTY
To give this lavatory a down-to-earth feel, we kept things au naturel with a slate tile surround and backsplash. Floating double vanities feature vessel sinks and plentiful storage, while a rainfall shower head boasts eight separate jets, controlling everything from temperature to water pressure.
3 / THE DIVA
You’re not seeing double. We just took our favorite parts of this bath — vessel sink, wall mirror, customizable shower setup — and multiplied by two. The room’s travertine floor tiles are offset by our favorite feature: an extravagant marble fireplace that we left in 100-percent original condition.
4 / THE EXECUTIVE
From its floating vanities to that navy-accented subway tile, this savvy Lawrenceville space means business. Complemented by an off-white marble floor, the room’s opposing black cabinets, mirror trim, and shower head unit exemplify efficiency and professionalism.
5 / THE ARTIST
Dark and stormy with an upbeat flair, this master bath packs a creative punch. Brimming with natural slate tile, the spacious shower and its custom glass-block window provide the ultimate balance of freedom and privacy. That fireplace, though nonfunctional, adds a fictitious spark with original brick and a remodeled mantle.
6 / THE PERFECTIONIST
Clean, bold lines give this straight-laced spot its character. Complete with a freestanding soaking tub, ceramic tile, and a fully enclosed glass shower, the reflective en-suite is a prime locale for…well, reflecting. We finished by incorporating two floating vanities with vessel sinks, and — perhaps unexpectedly — a sliding barn door.
